    How do you say plaquenil

So far I have no more energy than when I first started and has developed neuropathy which I have just found out from Web MD that this neuropathy is one of the side effects of this med! Saying that by stopping this it would take another 6 months to build up the benefit. There are other meds that can help with what you are experiencing, and if your doctor didn't address that then I would seek out a second opinion... Please don't stop your plaquenil until you are sure it is the right thing to do and in your best interest.

Plaquenil hydroxychloroquine belongs to a group of medicines called quinolines. Plaquenil is used to treat or prevent malaria, a disease caused by parasites that enter the body through the bite of a mosquito. Malaria is common in areas such as Africa, South America, and Southern Asia. If you really need to get off it, I would taper down slowly, very slowly. There is a similar posting on Healthunlocked, "Why oh why did u stop taking plaquenil." You may want to check it out. I do go for intense eye examinations every 6 months to see if there is a difference in my eyesight from my base examine. I do have SJS also. Hydroxychloroquine Plaquenil is considered a disease-modifying anti-rheumatic drug DMARD. It can decrease the pain and swelling of arthritis. It may prevent joint damage and reduce the risk of long-term disability. Hydroxychloroquine is in a class of medications that was first used to prevent and treat malaria.

Plaquenil is a 6-weeker as far as the benefits are concerned, but it would be more dangerous to stop if you spend a lot of time outside and if this were the summer. Or maybe another doctor if you're not comfortable w/your current one.

With Plaquenil, however, the most commonly prescribed anti-malarial, this sort of damage occurs only in 1 out of 5,000 people who take the drug for five years or more. For this reason though, it is important that you see an ophthalmologist for an exam before starting to take an anti-malarial medication for your lupus. Plaquenil hydroxychloroquine is an effective medication for autoimmune conditions and malaria that comes with less side effects than other DMARDs. You will likely have to take additional medications to keep your rheumatoid arthritis in control.

Is Plaquenil a immunosuppressant drug ? Autoimmune. The answer was that while Hydroxychloroquine, the generic name for Plaquenil and the tablet I take in the same dose as yourself i.e. 200mg a day at the moment, is a disease modifying drug and an anti-malarial, it is also a mild immunosuppressant too.
